Much of this phase is centered around physiology: puberty, voice change, facial hair, muscles grow. Pre-frontal cortex still changing: emotion control. Suicide: more girls try to carry it out, more guys complete it, highest rate is among first nations. University transition: stressful period, homesickness, lonliness, 30-40% drop out after 1st year. Personality development: psychosocial crises of identity vs conduction. Trying to find out who they are, discovering strengths and weaknesses. Young adulthood: struggle with intimacy vs isolation. If you develop intimacy, you develop close bonds: stuck in isolation are the (cid:858)(cid:272)o(cid:373)(cid:373)it(cid:373)e(cid:374)t-pho(cid:271)es(cid:859)s. Middle adulthood: struggle with generatively vs self absorption, feelings of love/concern beyond the self and immediate family. Younger generations (guiding or being mentor to them) If generatively is not developed, they become self absorbed and concerned with personal well being and materialism. Older age: struggles with integrity vs despair. Can look back with feelings of accomplishment and satisfactions. If not, they live a life of regret.
