Preconscious: events out of awareness but that can be recalled (like long term memory) Conscious: whatever you are aware of at any given moment. Unconscious: considered be freud to be the primary motivating force of behaviour. Contains repressed memories, instincts and wishes that have never been allowed into consciousness.
