Self-report inventories- asks people to respond to a series of quesions about themselves: widely used form of personality assessment, have greater face validity than projecive tests, used by researchers, personnel mangers, and clinical psychologists. Mmpi contains scales designed to detect faking. Strengths: usage of objecive measures to examine the constructs, reduced level of the bias and subjecivity, numerous pracical applicaions, educaional psychologists and employers use trait measures in their work, generated a large amount of search. Criicisms: no explanaion on how traits develop or how to help people who sufer from extreme scores, no schools of psychotherapy have originated from the trait approach, lack of an agreed-upon framework. Desire to: accomplish something diicult, master, manipulate or organize, overcome obstacles and atain a high standard. Assessed using themaic appercepion test: used in a large number of invesigaions, time consuming, subjected to quesions about interpretaion of scores. Explicit: comes into play when people have ime to consider achievement opions and decisions.
