PS271 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Normal Distribution, Factor Analysis, Christian Ethics
Document Summary
Humility is the quality or state of not thinking you"re better than other people; the quality or state of being humble. (according to merriam-webster) Adding to the 6th dimension (lee & ashton) To not have pride (according to christian ethics: christian ethics states that pride is a bad thing, consider the continuum. The number of people above and below the average is about the same. The normal curve: in personality it assumes that most people fall in the 2nd percentile. Small sample sizes can lead to different findings than otherwise would show with a larger. Factor analysis: critical, sorts traits into groups according to correlations, groups are what we call factors. Poles: negative, positive, one dimension of the same factor. A theory describes, explains and predict a phenomenon. Useful for many reasons: lead to argument and debate, gathering data, leads to testing. May account for variety or uniqueness depending on complexity.
