Relationships  ­There is a pattern to relationship development:  * Acquaintanceship  * Buildup  * Continuation  * Deterioration  * Ending  ­During acquaintanceship = stage of infatuation (6­8 mos.)  ­Longevity does not mean a relationship will be successful.  ­4 main relationship issues: (Gottman)  * Respectful perception  * Constant communication  * Unfailing commitment  * Complete trust  ­Opposites do not attract.  ­Similarity is one of the most predicted variables in relationship development and continuation.  ­What leads people to attraction:  * Propinquity = physical proximity.
