This week we begin the third and last module of re103oc: monotheistic-based traditions. In this module you will learn about christian, jewish, and muslim understandings of love. The sikh tradition offered a great segue from the karmic-based traditions module of last week to the monotheistic-based traditions module this week. The sikh worldview is one of karma and a cycle of death and re-birth. Sikh goal of unification with god is similar to the hindu concept of the individual soul realizing its sameness with brahman; however, for sikh"s god is one and the creator of all things. So there are subtle differences with the hindu tradition (although some scholars have made the case for the hindu tradition being a monotheistic tradition too). That would be a great question to ask right now. Mono, like in mononucleosis (which some unfortunate students can contract) means singular.
