In the previous six lessons, we have explored the role of myth in relation to religion and how many mythical narratives and legends give voice to concepts that are difficult to explain. We have explored the nature- based religions in module one where you noted that mythical understandings about the. White buffalo calf woman and the goddess inform understandings of love in the aboriginal and neo-pagan traditions, respectively. You have also learned that the worldviews of the. Nature-based religions are supported by their myths, which in turn inform the ritual practices, determining how their adherents will form relationships, with themselves, their intimate partners, the larger human community, and the deities. Karmic-based traditions, you encountered a different worldview in south asia, where karma and the cycle of re-birth play an important role in fostering self-realization practices over and above (but certainly not exclusive of) nature-based practices.
