When you do an extreme thing, it creates this moral cohesion, and moral cohesion makes you not want to piss someone off. People going to war, not knowing each other, fighting along side each, and this powerful event happens, and they die for one another. Religious rituals are like going to war (haskell"s example) Being in this intimate community makes people moral it has nothing to do with beliefs. The real things happening was the phenomenon. Trying to show that it"s about religion"s conception of god and not it"s rituals that are most crucial to establishing moral order.
