Begins in medias res (middle of the subject) Not a chronicle, but a study of rage. Not about the war but its subject matter. Achilles is angry at agamemnon, which lead to consequences to himself and all fighting for troy. Book 1: agamemnon takes briseis, achilles war prize. Book 9: agamemnon asks achilles back, he refuses.
