RE407 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Buddhism And Psychology, Jack Kornfield, Dukkha
Document Summary
I am hoping to learn how the four noble truths are supposed to relieve suffering and whether or not it has been applied to real lives and the final question of whether or not this technique works. The phenomenon i am researching is about the four noble truths and their effects on modern day lives. The first noble truth is that suffering or dukkha exists. This means that there will always be disappointments in our lives. The second noble truth is the cause of suffering, which include desire, greed and attachment. The third noble truth is the cessation of suffering. If there is no desire or attachment, the mind and heart can become liberated and sharp minded. The fourth noble truth is the path to take to end suffering and lead one to true happiness. This includes the middle path and the eightfold path.
