Human capital: the abilities, skills, knowledge, and experience that an individual or a group of individuals possesses. Two determinants of occupational ranking: differential functional importance, differential scarcity of personal. Social capital: group based resources, social connection and social networks. Being a part of a powerful group/network of people. Dominant groups use symbols to exercise symbolic violence on minority groups through cultural and symbolic systems (cid:523)ex. (cid:498)race(cid:499) or gender). Patriarchy violates women symbolic, men are better than women, constructs image of women as weaker sex. Idea that all gays are feminine/sissy and slowly incorporate this into their self-image due to this being placed in their minds growing up.
