People from the dual-systems theory look at patriarchy and capitalism. The distinction between private and public spheres. Patriarchy is based on material reality and men have control over women labour. The union were ghting for a living family wage. The men wanted higher wages to support their wives and children. Natural division of labour between men and women (horizontal). Mens labour was seen as productive labour. Patriarchy said that women are supposed to work under the power of their husbands. Reproductive labour: reproducing the population, and the basic needs of people. (reproducing the labour force)! People should be paid for producing goods and for the labour force. Everything is in the household is economic and relates to economic activities. Feminist theory: there is no production without reproduction. Men are rewarded differently than women for doing the same work (wage discrimination)! A wag gap is more much a women is paid for working in a similar job as a man.
