Social factors underlie this very personal act. Social integration: the degree to which people are tied to their social group- is a key factor. Social control: regulative force; societal and political mechanisms that regulate individual and group behavior in an attempt to gain conformity. Refused to accept the act of suicide as being a personal decision. He didn"t want to understand it in individual terms. He wanted to relate it to social issues; discovered social integration. Science: systematic methods of studying the natural and social worlds and the knowledge obtained by those methods.
