Document Summary

Little boys can race around, be physical. Little girls have to be contained, are supposed to be sweet. Little girls are allowed a large span of emotion, boys aren"t. Little girls can backstab their friends but they can beat them up, whereas boys can. In canada, the highest suicide rate is for boys and men. Girls look at marriage potential for boys. When the industrial revolution happened, the idea of masculinity changed. The only people allowed that image are white heterosexual men. Working class men don"t rank in terms of masculinity like a ceo does. Ceo"s don"t have brawn but they need to have money. All week seek to do is create one big homogeneous statement about men and women. Notions of gender are inventive i. e. transgender.
