ADMS 2511 Lecture 12: CH 12
Document Summary
Project: a targeted effort to create a specific business related outcome: short-term, form of products/services, is project management: a directed effort to plan, organize, and manage resources to bring about the successful achievement of specific information systems goals. Additionally, throughout the project, the organization should have effective security in place. Traditional approach involves five distinct phases that are sequential including: initiation. Clearly define the problem that the project is intended to solve and goals that is to achieve. Identify and secure the resources required for the project. The same as the systems investigation phase: planning. Every project objective and every activity associated with that objective must be identified and sequenced. Utilizing dependence diagrams, program evaluation and review technique (pert), critical path method (cpm), and a timeline diagram called the gantt chart. Enables managers to ensure activities are performed in a logical sequence and how long the entire project will take: execution.
