ADMS 3400 Lecture Notes - Lecture 11: Dangerous Goods, Soil Texture, Biomagnification
Document Summary
Lecture 11: corporate social responsibility and the environment. Four aspects of csr: moral, reputation (or brand image, license to operate (legal, sustainability (environment) Charity is a legitimate aspect of csr if it is approached from a strategic perspective. Water only changes from one form and place to another. Water facts- 326 million cubic miles of water & 1 mill gallons of water per cubic mile. 73% of world covered in water (only 3% fresh water) 1/3 world is water stressed (don"t have enough fresh water support) Air pollutants primary air pollutants have direct impact on evironment. Secondary pollutants are formed from chemicals interacting with primary pollutants. Increase in pollution, get less than 25% greenhouse gases in atmosphere so earth overheating. Infectious agents: sediments, radioactive material, thermal pollution, organic/inorganic compounds, plant nutrient pollutions, oxygen depleting waste (removes oxygen from water) Soil pollutants- plant nutrient pollutants: sulfates from sulfuric acid rain, nitrites from nitric acid rain, toxic metals; radioactive materials.
