Ineffective listening: in the clip the big bang theory "please pass the butter" conversation between amy and sheldon , amy is demonstrating ineffective listening, Amy adapts the way she speaks to satisfy sheldon (she"s agreeing to everything he"s saying and mimicking his tone of voice when repeating everything he"s saying). At the end, you can finally see that she was just trying to make him happy and that"s when he finally understood she never really did care. When communicating with others it"s important to have proper active listening. Active listening is a form of listening and responding that focuses the attention on the speaker. The listener must intensively listen to the speaker fully and then repeats, in the listener"s own words, what he or she thinks the speaker has said.
