Document Summary

Application of behaviouralism: personality is shaped in an effort to adapt to environmental circumstance (environment produces rewards and punishments); thus, one"s environment. If you reward behaviour long enough it becomes a regular part of behaviour so reward good, not bad, avoid punishment. Behaviours form through pairing of stimulus and response; repeat exposure to stimulus provokes predictable responses - this is the basis for learning in animals & humans: classically conditioned behaviours: Organisms are always operating within an environment and are seeking to adapt to it. Principles: a behaviour followed by a reinforcing sleep, eat, emotional response to stress. Experiment: before conditioning, ringing the bell had no response. Then, conditioning meant the bell was rung just before food was presented. After conditioning, the ringing of the bell produced salivation. Cbh and ice cream are comforting because it is reminiscent of childhood (and an easier time) Because skinniness = homosexual = beat up as a child, so they overcompensate with a ponch.
