Our material world impacts us: mainstream north american vs. dene tha worldviews. Nature is something that"s different from culture and social life. We make a big emphasis on the separation of nature. Mother nature she takes care of us, we take care of her (kinship metaphor) We believe that nature is more stronger and powerful than us because it"s something we can"t control. Some believe it"s something we can control and manage through ownership. We believe we can manage land through scientific knowledge and better technology. Once we own it, we think we know what"s best for the land. These are all sayings, figure of speech, and metaphors: ideas about teaching and learning knowledge. How it"s communicated and passed on from one generation to the next. Another way of looking at how world-views are formed.
