Transnational- involving more than one nation state reaching beyond or transcending national boundaries. Multiculturalism- a term that eva mackey defines as a canadian policy in which all hyphenated cultures such as african- canadian and french- canadian are described and celebrated as part of a cultural mosaic. Contrast with the cultural melting pot image that is used in the us. Indigenism- refers to an international, collaborative movement that aims to protect the rights and livelihoods of indigenous people. Ethnocide- the attempt to destroy the culture of people. Refugees- groups of people who have left their homeland due to warfare, forced expulsion, acts of terrorism, or other factors. Diaspora- a population whose members are dispersed and living outside their homeland.
