BIOL 1000 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Vitreous Body, Aqueous Humour, Ciliary Muscle
Document Summary
Lecture #1: learning outcome is light & life. Chapter 1 light and life (1. 1-1. 3c, 1. 5a/b, & 1. 9 also random p. 451. Lecture #2: learning outcome is cells & evolution. & random p. 399-431, fig3. 2 (purple pages that are review) Chapter 22 bacteria & archaea (22. 1-22. 2b, 22. 4a, & table 22. 2) Lecture #3: learning outcome is cells & evolution. 3 darwin on origin of species (p. 453-458, p. 468-471 to 3. 3a) Chapter 3 defining life & its origins (p. 65-69, so sections 3. 4e to end of 3. 5) Lecture #4: learning outcome is energy & enzymes. Light travels as waves & stream of photons; longer wavelength = lower energy (of photons contained) When photon hits object, it can be reflected off, transmitted, or absorbed. Light as source of energy: pigment absorbing light = excited electron = potential energy within chlorophyll used in electron transport to make energy-rich nadph & atp these 2 are used in calvin cycle to turn co2 into carb.
