Document Summary

Lecture 10, community ecology types of species interactions. Mutualism: when two species interact in a way where they both bene t. Commensalism: one species bene ts, and the other species is not a ected at all negative-negative: two species interact in a way where they hinder each other. This isn"t the same thing as an animal eating another animal. Trophic (consumption): one animal eats another animal, or an animal eats a plant. Non trophic means there is no form of eating going on. Usually lower level consumers like plants are not very trophic, but something like a predator like a lion is very trophic. Sheep eat all the plants, no plants left. Indirect interaction: one species impacts another species without interacting with it. A cow eats plants for example, so there is no food left for the sheep, negatively impacting it.
