Document Summary

Uses the scientific method: experimental science, set up experiments, explaining natural phenomenon, how and why we got here. We can formulate hypothesis: falsifiable, something you could prove wrong, make predictions, to design and collect data. Standardized variable: held constant for all subjects in an experiment. Control experiment on humans double blind. Theory: wider body of evidence, broader statement. Ex. theory of evolution natural selection (hypothesis) Self- theory: explains cells and how they work: hypothesis = different individual cells. The characteristics of life: robot can walk and function, why is boy alive and not robot, organs, blood, water. Evolution viruses are not alive they can"t maintain internal constancy. No energy use they can hijack to reproduce, evolve and grow. Cells are alive: the fundamental unit of life. Biosphere global ecosystem, parts of planet and its atmosphere, where life is possible. Life shows unity and diversity: evolution ties life together; creates both unity and diversity. Only electrons are involved in chemical reactions.
