It also gave us a general theory on information-processing. Marr"s three levels: assumed that the mind was an information-processing system, distinguished 3 levels, computational. Identifies constraints upon solution: use of the term "computational" is different than when we"re talking about turing, this is more of a description of the general function, algorithmic. Identifies algorithm that explains how the inputs are transformed to outputs. "trying to understand perception by studying only neurons is like trying to understand bird flight by studying only feathers: it just cannot be done. In order to study bird flight we have to understand aerodynamics; only then do the structure of feathers and the different shapes of bird wings make sense.
