The social process of attaching meaning to language that is just an infinitely interesting and complicated thing to understand but it is essential. Concept of hegemony: how does power continue to reproduce itself, example: the fact that if you look the city of toronto and what it spends money on every year is policing. Over a billion dollars a year: there is a police force on this campus but we never see them.
