Problem of hate speech and fake news are hard to stop. How to make it illegal is hard to do because not every country describes hate speech the same and not every country have the same laws about it. You can limit people"s right in a democratic society. Example: there"s freedom of speech but you cannot threaten to kill someone. There"s also the canadian human right"s act which provide for legal sanction against people who promote hatred towards certain type of people (discrimination). With the internet, you don"t need advertisers to make money. You can get donations and this makes it very dangerous and much more decentralized. With newspaper, companies can pick what they write and sell. But if you post it online, you"ll have a comment section which is not as tightly controlled, people can say what they want.
