The term social order can be used in two senses. In the first sense, it refers to a particular set or system of linked social structures, institutions, relations, customs, values and practices, which conserve, maintain and enforce certain patterns of relating and behaving. Unit of analysis shifts from individual to societal. Individuals were understood to be born with particular biological tendencies; psychological, biological abnormalities and physical appearance is a reflection of their criminal behaviour when examining those interactions, theorists have paid great attention to the immediate environment. ^-routine activities: the particular environment in which offenders found themselves (absence of culpable guardians) Social biological theory: presupposed that human behaviour was the product of an individual"s interaction of their biology and their environment.
