Sentencing process: 3 main questions: in/out decision for the type of sanction type of sanction appropriate for the offence. Quantum of sanction, which is the length of the sentence, time money and pain: 2 phases: justifying punishment, identifying reasons for the punishment and what the judge will try to achieve in this punishment.
