Document Summary

May be an aspect of linking some overarching themes together. When focusing on the interaction of the police with the general citizens and the police use of violence, what we are trying to illuminate and shed light on is the backstage behaviour of police. Links with last week"s material, as it pertains to the training of police officers: subculture aspects of policing. How police officers are trained and disciplined: trained in the academy and by their fto. We also come to understand how their training allows them to construct themselves, people, and the spatial context in which they inhabit. Structurational model: we can understand how the police structure society in a way that reproduces itself through the agency of the police, and the agency reproduces how they perceive the structure of society. It illuminates the social construction processes of how they see themselves. We will also look at the social construction of the asshole.
