Better than it was in the past. Require some kind of a knowledge based in order to design effect to give crime prevention programs. Have been revealed to be very little impact on crime or drug use; evaluation is important: slow to develop in criminology. Very good with coming up with ideas of programs; however, that"s starting to change. Program in a disadvantaged toronto neighborhood; objective was to help students reintegrate back into school and avoid disciplinary issues in the future. Evaluation involved an interview with one program participant and there were 5 interviews but with one single participant; did not follow up with student upon completion: external contexts and influences. Government cutbacks and demands for greater accountability increasing expectations that those services would be held to a higher accountability; falls under new public management with the idea of enhanced accountability.
