Crime prevention = unit of analysis chicago school *system is grounded in punishment; correction, but what is distinct is the logic; logic of rehabilitation and reintegration: neoliberalism: Decline of the rehabilitative idea; martinson = nothing works; it is ineffective because people are predisposed to crime and the state can do nothing to prevent it. Crime can"t be located with pathological social conditions; instead in pathological individual conditions: decline of the authority, the legitimacy and autonomy of state agency police; growing skepticism about police and them not doing anything about crime. September 26, 2014: responsabilzation state is not involved in helping the state and security; we are responsible for protecting ourselves. E. g. mental illness is managed in our society. Contradictions and tensions between the crime prevention enterprise.
