Youth crime - the operation of the youth criminal justice system. There was a worry you wouldn"t attend court. The reoffender was more likely to get custody, regardless of if it was minor or serious (75% of the time was minor crime reoffending: 1/3 of these were a month 3/4 for three months. Judges were asked why they sentenced and they said: it was due to the seriousness and to shock them (deterrence: custody became used more than usa for property and violence. It becomes easier to crack down on the young offender vs. youth: when we talk about rights, it implies responsibility. We determine the responsibility for the offence.
