Withholdi(cid:374)g i(cid:374)for(cid:373)atio(cid:374: access to health records can be withheld if it could cause serious mental or physical harm to the patient, however withholding information should not be taken lightly & should be well justified. Should be told all relevant aspects of their illness- risks, & benefits of treatment, alternatives: complete and truthful disclosure should not be brutal. Be appropriate and realize this is sensitivity information that should be disclosed in a careful & hopeful manner in which patient can comprehend it. If doctors fears that for some compelling reason that disclosure would have real predictable harmful effects on patients it may be justified to withhold truthful information. Health care: personal examination: we have responsibility not only to ourselves, but to our patients to be passionate & committed to our work. Anything less will put patients safety in jeopardy: must take responsibility for mental, emotional & physical heath.
