Swelling from meningitis typically triggers symptoms such as headache, fever & stiff neck: meningitis is an inflammation of membranes surrounding brain & spinal cord, most cases are caused by viral infection. Some cases can be life-threatening & require antibiotic treatment. Serious & can be fatal within days without prompt antibiotic treatment: delayed treatment increases risk of permanent brain damage or death. Results in other neurological damage: may need to take medications to prevent getting infections. Hernia: when organ pushes through an opening in muscles or tissues. Organ or fatty tissue squeezes through a weak spot in muscle or tissue. Its caused by weakness of muscle: obesity, poor nutrition & smoking can all weaken muscles & hernias more likely, repairing hernia can relieve symptoms of pain & discomfort. If left untreated, hernia may grow & become more painful. Portion of intestine or organ may become trapped. If trapped organ doesn"t get enough blood flow, it will become infected or die.
