Daemons are creatures between gods and humans; trapped in between. Can only imprison a body, not a mind. The author finds a human face to match different types of personalities. Sensitivity towards the way in which the novel ties together the characters. The wizard of the crow is an attack, not only on the dictators but also corporal reality (the ways in which the corporate is the ruler) When the ruler becomes sick with sie (self-induced expansion), the scientists want to patent the ruler. The ruler"s attempt to become a god; but since he cannot be god and human at the same time, he becomes the supreme daemon. In order to patent something, it cannot be generic; the ruler did not have a name so it was not successfully patented.
