Using theory to give us access of what is on the page, and changes in respect to the period of women"s writing. Looking at chin"s poetry to look at theory, instead of the other way around. Looking at chin"s writing as being considered feminist acts of theorizing. The core of patriarchal ideology turning the lens to making the woman laugh at the man. The useful body vs. the intelligent body. Useful = the one that society defines for women (function is prescribed- useful as a mother, wife, caregiver, nurse, object of desire etc. ). Intelligent = the one in the mind the one that the woman has because she reads and learns, and is a critique of the useful body. Forshe"s work was not feminist her writing is bout women as oppressed by patriarchy. The feminist politics are implicit in her work, not explicit.
