The purpose of this lab was to verify the hooke"s law sigma = * e. A 4 kg weight is attached the rubber for which the length (l), width (w) and the thickness (t) are measured. The process is repeated with a 5 kg weight and then with a 6 kg weight. 11, 22 and 33 are also calculated from the observed values. The values observed and the values calculated are noted in the chart below. Due to errors such us experimental error, instrumental error occurred during the experiment it is clear that the x & y strain are not equal resulting in an uneven distribution of molecular structure. The normal stress is linearly proportional to the strain. Therefore it can be drawn that the young"s modulus is the slope of normal stress vs. strain. Once again few measurements are off may be due to the errors mentioned above.
