Double indemnity as puzzle film & fight club as mind-game film. Film narrative contains all the pieces and the viewer makes sense of them. In the opening sequence of double indemnity we see all elements of the puzzle film. In double indemnity the film starts with the murder and the narrative goes back to showing the plan for the murder. The audience is given a riddle to solve by themselves. The film can start anywhere and can also go back and forth where the audience is expected to make sense of them. We get all the pieces and put them together. The audience gets confused due to the puzzling narrative which doesn"t show everything when it is supposed to show it. Rules and conventions of filmmaking are broken many times. Many times the film"s narrative does not follow the pattern of a-b, but instead follows b- Fight club"s opening sequence shows the elements of the mind-game film.
