Blake edwards considered to direct planet of the apes. 1968 version directed by franklin j schaffner. The makeup was considered pioneering - one of the first to use prosthetic makeup (designed by jon chambers - film argo based on his story) Actors stayed in character the entire production, even segregating themselves based on species.
