The senators and magistrates of rome made a personal oath of obedience to octavian. 28 bc = octavian legally elected consul (he was consul for the 6th time in his life) 2 bc = octavian is named pater patriae ( father of the patherland/nation ) January 27 bc, octavian cleverly retired from political life. The roman people did not want him to step down as they feared that, with him doing so, peace and stability would cease. He receives a 10-year imperium to gover imperial provinces, and more titles.
