Today s lecture discussed two main ideas in the medical field which are disease management & disease registries and medical information retrieval. Disease management is important because it is an approach used to evaluate, track and treat chronic diseases and requires a strong it team. The goal of this program is to improve multiple patient outcomes whether that is clinical, behavioural, financial, functional and quality of life outcomes. Similarly, medical information retrieval is used to help us search for medical and non-medical information required. Search engines such as google and pubmed are excellent choices of search engines for fast accurate retrieval of information but the search engine chosen depends on the accuracy of answer the individual is looking for. One concept which i found useful was disease registries because they can remind clinicians, nurses and patients to get lab work done and keep appointments.
