Communication is a form of action the action of making something common to one or more people. Communication is very powerful in today"s society. According to the author, communication shapes the way we think is so fundamental as an aspect of our society that sociologists refer to it as our media culture. Communication is seen throughout our daily lives. Everything we say, read, or observe is a form of a communicated message. There are different modes of communication: language, gestures, signals and signs, images and symbols. Examples of communicated messages: advertising you see on your way to work, advertisements you watch during a television show and computer advertisements. According to the author, we pass on cultural ways, moral teachings and ideas of all sorts through the messages exchanged.
