When one thinks of challenges while being incarnated, they think of physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse and/or more. At least, that was what i was quick to assume, challenges within the facilities among inmates or the police guards. However, it is not so much within the facilities themselves as it is the policies and ideologies that run these facilities. Getting into the specifics, one of the challenges that are more explicit towards. Aboriginal women who are federally sentenced is their overrepresentation with the prison system as a result of the discrimination they experience. It is not to say that other racialized populations don"t experience the same fate, but in most regions, it is safe to say that incarcerated. Aboriginal women fair far worse, especially when statistics show poor ratios that reflect such a fact. For example, in manitoba aboriginal people constitute 12% of [its] population.
