Poor hiring can be bad for public image of firm, cost money, and negative performance. Purpose of hr abilities that you have that is useful to the firm. Brings human capital to firm and motivate and empowers the human capital. Getting people have the necessary (ksao) to perform the job. Generic human capital: useful for the firm you"re employed and equally at. Firm specific: its strategic, tied to a specific business or company. Can"t derive the company at a different company. Selection helps to grow firm specific human capital by hiring better and higher level of generic human capital. Measuring performance by knowing what behaviours are good for success, and see if the employees are showing that behaviour.
