Document Summary
Ideology is a way of thinking that justifies/naturalizes power imbalance. Don"t fall into reductionist tendency (don"t reduce human nature to just bodies/biology) Society is not a reflection of human nature. Drives are so flexible it can be developed into so many cultures. Humans are creatures of learning, not instinct. If not for cooperation, the human race would have died out long ago. Babies begin to imitate facial expressions quickly after birth. People think babies are amoral (blank slate) Kylie ha(cid:373)li(cid:374)"s research: right and wrong: where they come from: shows babies puppet shows to see reactions (a mean otter and nice otter). Chose based on the behaviour: looking time: babies who look longer at things they like, the baby paid attention and recognized who was who (which otter was nice and mean) Helpfulness learned or innate: kids are nice and helpful usually without motive. Intention behind act matters: kids can recognize bad behaviour and deceit.
