Ideal of globalization: the presumed bene ts; makes wealth (economic prosperity for all) versus the actuality (pyramid of power - rich people become richer) Polarization: more wealth but more poverty - leads to con ict. 3 basic dimensions: political, economic and cultural. Spread of industrial capitalism and consumer society. Seen as a form of economic freedom . Global government institution - have nothing to do with your country, has power over your country. Interferes with sovereignty (the right to decide your own fate). Free trade agreements are a part of globalization. More social awareness - of whats going on in the world and the implications. The 4th world - 50% of the world"s population is very poor. Political: loss of national sovereignty and the right to create a nation free of foreign in uence - concentration of power in wto, wb, imf. Wealth is made by speculation, investing in companies and stocks (casino capitalism) - makes workers irrelevant.
