2nd major ancient epic we have read in this class. It"s an accomplishment to have read them so thoroughly. What we see at end of book 22 was chaos, destruction, all of suitors were murdered. In both cases - the suitors were a total of 108 - a large number physically mowed down. Very visually shocking scene and a complete eradication of suitors. Some of the scenes we see someone in danger for their lives begs and the violent, dominant one refuse the supplication. We saw odyssey that nothing can compensate for his honour. And that feeling of dishonour and personal attack it stems beyond the suitors to the females of the household. Final lines- bring me fire and sulure - fumigate. Misbehaviour , misconduct of females being talked about odyssey as something toxic, plotting and him as the cleanser, the cleaner. There is no half guilty, all the suitors were killed. The bard and the messenger of the suitors.
