Odysseus is the only one who has not returned home. His now adult son, telemachos speaks to athene (disguised as mentes from taphos) and she tells him to search for his father as she believed he is alive. Penelope (wife of odysseus) is now searching for a new husband. Telemachos tells all the suitors to retire to their chambers. Antinoos blames the state of affairs on penelope, stating she seduces all the men but wont commit. 2 fighting eagles appear and halithereses says that odyseus is near and will conquer the suitors. That his journey will be successful and creates a crew for him. They sailed to pylos and witnessed a ritual involving the sacrifice of bulls to poseidon. Asks nestor of pylos what he knows of odysseus. Nestor tells tele how agamemnon died, and sends his own son peisistratos along with the crew. Tele and pei go to see menelaus and helen after their children have gotten married.
