Feminist film theory rooted in ahistorical psychoanalytic framework that privele ges sexual difference actively supresses recognition of race, reenacting and mirroring the erasure of black womanhood that occurs in films. Internal notes: critical viewing, analyzing, deconstructing, interrogating and evaluating, not passively consuming as series of images and sound. She is objectified as a black woman and have racial separation. She discusses that film is predominated by white men. She encourages a form of black agency that critically challenges and that gaze will be returned. In the end of article, she examines and evaluates black filmmakers which is an example of oppositional gaze: how bell hooks gaze is a resistance tragedy, bottom left pg 188 is a key passage. Franz fanon quote " the way you gain power is to return that gaze" - in an oppositional way. She talks about intersectional when one deals with sexism and racism.
