Frankenstein became a term used as a reference for the misuse of science, the horrors it can cause if scientific discoveries are not managed carefully. It also became a noun, meaning something that is a combination of different parts that are not usually put together (e. g. frankenstein fruit, such as a grapple). Frankenstein is an origin point for many tropes we see today: creation turning on its creator being the main one. Frankenstein represent our fear of technology of the fear that our creations will turn on us, known as frankenstein syndrome. The creature victor frankenstein creates represents our fear of technology, or the fear that our creations will turn on us. At the time the novel was written, electricity was being experimented with to animate frog legs.
